Federal Tax Credit
Homeowners also can claim up to a $300 credit for installation of qualifying Mitsubishi mini-split heat pumps through December 31, 2013. The federal tax credit applies to equipment and labor costs. For mini-split heat pumps to qualify for this credit, they must meet specific criteria. The long and short of it is, if your space (sun room) calls for a small outdoor unit (9,000 to 15,000 btu) and only one indoor air handler, chances are it will qualify.
