Heating, cooling and beyond
This past summer Trane announced its successful completion of the Residential Cold Climate Heat Pump (CCHP) Technology Challenge. The Trane prototype - installed in Boise, Idaho two winters ago - delivered the homeowner 15 - 20% energy savings while only relying on its backup electric heat strip 10% of the time. The prototype has been relocated to Trane's testing lab in Tyler, Texas for design & further enhancements with roll out expected in 2025. Trane is projecting standard R-454B based air conditioners & heat pumps to be available by the end of this year. Tempstar expects to roll out its R-454B based air conditioners in the first quarter of 2025. Tempstar's heat pumps - according to their distributor - should be available this fall.
